We are a small, home-based business in our sixth year of sales.

My name is Krissy McCoy. I am the owner and founder of Boo-Boo Blankies and mother of three.

My son does not like ice packs on boo-boos or cold rags on his forehead when he is sick, but he does love fleece blankets. I thought this would be a great way to take something he loves and incorporate it into something to make him feel better. Sometimes he even likes for me to heat the boo-boo pouch and put it in the bed with him at night for no reason at all...just to snuggle the warm, fuzzy, blankie.

The idea for the blankies came to me when my son who was only about two years old at the time, had surgery on his eye. The surgeon said he would nee to use an ice pack for 24 hours after the surgery. Imagine trying to hold an ice pack on a two year old's face for 24 hrs. . . obviously that's almost impossible. I thought about ways to "mask" the ice pack, much like the way we "mask" the taste of their medicine with flavors. I decided to sew a pouch and put the ice pack inside. Once that was completed I sewed the pouch to his blankie and it became a pocket. Then we had the first Boo-boo Blankie and he loved it.

I love my children and as a former nanny, I just love children and babies in general. They make me smile and brighten my day. My children have brought me the greatest joy I've ever known, and I don't take that for granted. I love helping people and I have always wanted to start my own charity for children . My oldest child had several illnesses and suffered complications with the attempt of minor surgery. His condition was serious to me, but I can't imagine what a family whose child suffers from cancer or leukemia must feel like. I realized at Children's Hospital just how lucky we were to only be dealing with treatable conditions. My heart goes out to those families who spend more time at the hospital than at home. I am amazed at the bravery these young children possess and admire their strength. I saw this blanket business as a way for me to be able to help other families and so I created Close To My Heart Charity Projects.

Close to My Heart is a charity I have founded in order to help take some of the financial burden off these families. I hope in some small way it will help.
